Sales for Outlook CRM Buttons no longer work
Text:
In the Sales for Outlook client the buttons on the CRM Toolbar will periodically not work.  They will still appear on the Toolbar, just when you click it, it will not pull the form up.

If this happens, it is most likely the the Outlook Forms Cache have been corrupted.  You can correct this issue by following the steps outline below:

1. Open Microsoft Outlook, and then click Options from the Tools menu.
2. In the options window, under the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
3. In the Advanced Options window, click Custom Forms.
4. In the Options window, click Manage Forms.
5. In the Forms Manager window, click Clear Cache.
6. Close all open windows, and then close Outlook.
7. The forms should now appear correctly when you click on the Form buttons.

To keep this issue from happening again in the future, make sure that you have Office 2003 SP1 installed, and add the registry key as documented below:

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about modifying the registry. Before you modify the registry, make sure to back up the registry and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. For information about how to back up, restore, and edit the registry, click the following link to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;256986

On the SFO client machine go to Start and select Run, type in regedit and click OK. Within the Registry Editor highlight My Computer, right-click and select export. Export the entire registry entry for the SFO machine for backup purposes.

You are going to have to add the following value to the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook

Value name: ForceFormReload
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 1
This is also documented in KB305403 OL2002: Error Message: The Form You Have Selected...Cannot Be Displayed

(the article was written for previous version so the key names are slightly different)

To do this, using the registry editor expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand
SOFTWARE, expand Microsoft, expand Office, expand 11.0, and click on Outlook.
Right-click in the right pane, and under New, select DWORD Value. Name the value ForceFormReload, and set the data of the value to 1.
